Thank you for your interest in the Norwegian International School.
The Norwegian International School provides International Education in Nigeria. It was established in 1983 and is constantly expanding and developing. It is purpose built with excellent facilities. It provides top quality, vibrant, internationally sound education to students who are drawn from many cultures and backgrounds. The school aims to develop students in every way with academic achievement being a core philosophy.
The Norwegian International School was founded in 1983 and opened with 12 students and 2 teachers. During the intervening years the school has grown and today we are catering for the needs of children from age 3 – 16 years.
Alongside rigorous academic standards we have rigorous behavioural expectations and provide a happy, caring and secure atmosphere. Students at the Norwegian International School are actively encouraged to work in a variety of ways. This included independent, collaborative and co-operative learning. Our mission is that every student is valued and has many opportunities to make valuable contributions as well as respecting all other members of the school community.
Small classes provide rich opportunities for individual attention and students acquire critical and logical thinking skills alongside the ability to use quantitative analysis, problem solving as well as excellent reading and writing skills. Independent thinking encourages our students to take intellectual safe risks, which further promote an enriched learning experience. Importantly NIS is committed to preparing students for entry into other international schools or to return to their home country educational systems.
I am a British Graduate Teacher with Post Graduate Qualifications in International Educational Leadership. I have taught in UK, Europe, Africa and Asia and have a full working knowledge of the current English National Curriculum. Leadership and Management experiences have included the Headship of an international school in Pakistan and Assistant Head Teacher at Shaftesbury School and Sports College in UK. I have also been an Inspector of Boarding Education in UK and undertaken many inspections of UK Independent Schools. I arrived in Nigeria in 2005 to work at Saint Saviour’s Ikoyi where I led a large team as a Senior Leader with many whole school responsibilities.
The Norwegian International School offers a unique educational experience and visits from prospective parents and students are most welcome.
